| The largest Australian retailer reported fiscal 2008 first half sales rise of 8.6% and earnings gain of 28%. Sales increased to $24 billion and earnings rose to $891.3 million. Woolworths declared an interim dividend of 44 cents, up from 35 cents in the first half of fiscal 2007. The company guided fiscal 2008 profit increase between 19% and 23%. |

| Sims Group Limited reported fiscal 2008 first half profit decline of 9.5% from a year ago to $102.2 million on sales rise of 4% to $2.73 billion. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization were 3.6% lower at $211.3 million from the year ago. Net profit after tax was lower at 9.5% from a year ago to $102.2 million and earnings per share declined 10.5% to 81.1 cents. Interim dividend was lowered to 55 cents from 60 cents a year ago. |

Revenue for the six months increased 8.1% from $1.12 billion to $1.21 billion with revenue per available seat kilometre increased 5.2% to 10.10 cents. |

| Oxiana Ltd, mining comany, reported 2007 revenue of $1.1 billion, lower than $1.27 billion in 2006. Net income declined to $305 million from $553 million and earnings per share fell to 20.24 cents from 40.14 cents in 2006. The company is conducting feasability study for Martabe gold project in Indonesia and exlore for more resources in Prominent Hill project. The company plans to spend as much as $1 billion in capital expansion. |

| BHP Billiton petroleum unit earnings climbed 22.3% to US$1.97 million for the first half ended Dec. 31, 2007 thanks to stronger production and higher prices for oil and gas outputs. Total production for the 6 months was 60.5 million BOE, up 5% from a year ago. Petroleum outputs enjoyed higher average realised prices in the quarter, with the biggest gain in the price of oil outputs at an average US$81.20 per barrel, up from US$63.77 a year ago. |

| NEWS Corporation reported a first half net profit of $1.56 billion versus $1.67 billion a year ago thanks to growth in the media group''s cable network performance. Operating income in the first six months of the fiscal year increased to $2.465 billion from $1.995 billion a year ago. For the second quarter, operating income rose 24% to $1.4 billion after revenue climbed by 10%. Fiscal 2008 operating income is expected to grow in the mid-teens range. |
