NEWS Corporation reported a first half net profit of $1.56 billion versus $1.67 billion a year ago thanks to growth in the media group''s cable network performance. Operating income in the first six months of the fiscal year increased to $2.465 billion from $1.995 billion a year ago. For the second quarter, operating income rose 24% to $1.4 billion after revenue climbed by 10%. Fiscal 2008 operating income is expected to grow in the mid-teens range. |
